![]() My first clue something was wrong was during a match and my accuracy was going to hell and i thought it was a hot barrel issue. Not enough and everything set back slowly. My metal bar was kind of free floating relying on the front screw to hold it in place. Yep, take the action out of the stock, look at where the front action screw goes, you'll see a bar of metal on the action that goes crossways, it fits into the crossways slot in the stock ahead of the magazine cutout. Hopefully the whole shebang holds together. The mortise was off nearly an 1/8 inch but it took me 2 years to figure things out. Mixed up another batch and bedded the recoil lug area. I stained the acraglas and filled the missing chip too. I mixed up some acragalss and used some dental floss to work some ag glass into the crack. Despite my tang clearance my stock cracked at the tang and I lost a chip. ![]() My front screw hole was taking brunt of the recoil and the whole works was setting back. My stock recoil mortise was a little off and I didn't catch it. I just went through this on a CMP M1903 C stock replacement. If the recoil hits that tube you will get a crack, if the recoil isn't stopped and you lack the clearance around the tang then the reciever will act as a splitting wedge. If things are all good the recoil is distributed to the stock at the lug. Recoil is controlled at the recoil lug on the bottom of the reciever. I thougtht the copper tube was to avoid stock compression and was not at all for recoil anything.
